This year, millions of people will be on a diet, and most will not be able to lose weight. People's natural reaction to diet marketing is to blame the person for failure. It makes the person feel defeated and guilty due to a lack of "will power"
Individual blaming habits also preserve that dieting is an effective way to lose weight. I think it is time to move beyond the level of "guilt" to advance the discussion and explore the real causes of diet failures.
I will use an example to explain my position.
When most people are presented with something like a candy bar, it doesn't take long before they feel the urge to eat it. Most will blame chocolate as the cause of desire. Then they will try to fight the thirst with "will power".
Usually they lose this battle and sooner or later give up and eat the candy bar. This "donation" often marks the end of the diet.
Now see why this "donation" happened. We know that the cognitive process that caused the thirst to eat the chocolate bar was something like this; Sensory information was received through appropriate receptors (basically the eye in this case) and the mind produces a somewhat nervous or sensory representation that would be defined as a candy bar. We can consider this process as essential.
If the sensory receptors are in order, the mind must create a representation of the object or a neural image.
When a neural image is formed we think that the meanings of memory to these memories, from memory, are an adequate emotional response to the assigned meaning after determining the assigned meaning.
The money offered in the case of the chocolate bar includes past memories of the pleasant experience associated with eating chocolate bars, which is why this chocolate bar is eager to eat.
So, in fact, it was not the presence of anything that could be defined as a candy bar that triggered the thirst, but rather delineated the cognitive process.
In particular, it was the order of money that caused the thirst. And this workload of money has become fully automatic for most people, which is why the candy bar is the culprit for thirst when in reality it only has the power to create mindless images.
For the most part, the meaning and the image have been "fused," meaning that the meaning is now seen as an underlying part of the neural image rather than something determined from within the mind. It certainly gives the stimulus the power to provoke a reaction.
Just thinking or pondering a chocolate bar has the same effect. A neural image is formed from this reflection, and it is exactly the same as the images produced by external stimuli when the cognitive process of automatically interpreting it is formed. We have a strong desire to eat chocolate bars.
Of course, whenever we are presented with a chocolate bar or some other desired food, the mind automatically goes through the cognitive process described and creates the desire to eat tasty food.
These constantly sensitive responses compose us and eventually frustrate us. That's why we "give" and the diet goes out the window.
My point is that the only way to reduce our food intake and still feel comfortable is to change the process of automatically defining the images that come to mind. In this way we can reduce the need to eat unnecessarily and, therefore, change our eating behavior to lose weight and keep it off.
Diets do not provide these strategies and in fact do not fail individually, otherwise your providers can trust you. If it is easy to change our behavior when we decide to go on a diet, most of the time many things about us change.
The truth is that we need strategies to help us achieve that change or we want to fail ourselves by establishing
